How to properly lubricate mining wire ropes?
1. It is recommended to use a dedicated wire rope lubricant, which typically offers excellent penetration, adhesion, water resistance, and rust protection; waste motor oil or ordinary greases are generally not advised. 2. Before lubrication, thoroughly remove surface dirt, old grease, and moisture from the wire rope to facilitate the lubricant’s penetration into the core and between the strands. 3. Lubrication is usually applied at points of bending—such as when the rope passes around pulleys or drums—or during low-speed operation, ensuring more uniform distribution of the lubricant. 4. Care should be taken to avoid over‑lubrication, particularly in friction‑driven systems (e.g., friction‑wheel hoists), to prevent adverse effects on friction transmission or braking performance.
What is the breaking load of 32mm mining wire rope?
1.The breaking load of a 32mm wire rope is not a single value; it mainly depends on the rope construction, tensile strength grade, and core type.2.The specific breaking load should be based on the manufacturer’s minimum breaking force table or certificate issued in accordance with relevant standards.3.Different constructions of 32mm wire rope may vary considerably in breaking load, so it is not advisable to judge by diameter alone.4.For rough field estimation, the minimum breaking force factor formula in standards may be used, but the result is only a preliminary reference and cannot replace manufacturer test data.
How often should mining wire rope be replaced?
1.There is no fixed replacement schedule; it is entirely condition-based.2.Replace immediately once discard criteria are met (e.g., broken wires exceeding limit, 7% diameter loss, severe distortion or corrosion).3.Condition must be monitored through daily visual checks and periodic non-destructive testing.4.Regulatory maximum service life is only a reference; actual inspection results always take priority.
What must be done before a new wire rope is put into service?
